On the morning of June 7th, riders will meet in Athens, Alabama for the 6th annual Bike MS: North Alabama event.
Bike MS is a fun, healthy and memorable way for team and individual cyclists to raise money and awareness for research and support programs to move us closer to a world free of multiple sclerosis. This event will reach new heights in an effort to better the lives of all those living with multiple sclerosis in Alabama and Mississippi.
Fitness Park - which is adjacent to the Athens-Limestone County Hospital Health and Wellness Center - will serve as the start/finish line for the 25, 45, 75, and 100 mile route options which will take riders along the cyclist-friendly and well-marked Noah Bike Trail and even into the southern boundary of the state of Tennessee.
Our routes travel through historic towns and points of interest throughout north Alabama's Tennessee River valley taking cyclists through beautiful and undulating countryside. The course and participants will be fully supported with: frequent, well-stocked rest stops (every 8-12 miles); roaming mechanical/bike repair support; roaming medical support; and, roaming SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles.
Arriving back in Athens after a great day riding, cyclists will finish at Fitness Park where they can enjoy an interactive cycling village replete with on-site mechanical support, plenty of food, and live entertainment.
Stick around and share fellowship & camaraderie with hundreds of fellow cyclists and share your Bike MS: North Alabama "riding stories." With the Athens-Limestone Hospital Wellness Center as our host site, you will also be able to take advantage of and enjoy massages and hot showers post-ride.
End the day by filling up on fresh, smoked BBQ cooked on site by competition pit-master JoBeaz and sides from Athen's own 306 BBQ and assorted cold beverages. We will also be serving watermelon, ice cream, and other food at our post-ride cookout celebration!
By joining a few hundred cyclists from all over the southeastern United States, participants will be making a profound difference in the lives of 6,300 people living with MS who are served by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Alabama-Mississippi Chapter.
